Newark's Central Ward Shooting Victim Dies

Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Police Director Eugene Venable announced today that the Newark Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office of Homicide Major Crimes Task Force are investigating a double shooting.

On Tuesday, Oct. 21 at approximately 4 p.m. two men were shot at 40 West Kinney Street. Both were taken to University Hospital. Yesterday, Dwayne Harrison, 26, of Newark died from his injuries. The second victim, who is not being identified at this time, was treated and released.

The investigation is active and ongoing. At this time, no arrests have been made.
