Newark Woman Sitting in Car Shot; Arrest Made

Authorities arrested Mr.

Khalif Nash, 19, of Newark, for aggravated assault and weapon possession in an incident that occurred on Monday, July 17th.

According to police, at approximately 9:49 p.m., officers responded to Irvine Turner Boulevard, near West Kinney Street, on a call of shots fired.

Upon arrival, officers found a woman shot as she sat in her parked vehicle by an unknown male suspect.

EMS transported the woman to University Hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening injury then released her .

No other injuries were reported as a result of this incident.

Detectives developed sufficient evidence to identify Mr. Khalif Nash as a suspect in this aggravated assault and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

Police took Mr. Nash into custody today without incident then charged him with two counts of Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon., and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.

These charges are merely accusations.

The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
