Newark Woman Admits to Armed Bank Robbery in Princeton

A Newark resident has admitted to robbing a bank in Princeton while threatening violence, federal officials announced this week.

According to information released by the U.S. Department of Justice, Ciara Brascom, 38, pleaded guilty in Camden federal court to a charge of bank robbery. 

The plea was entered before U.S. District Judge Karen M. Williams.

Federal prosecutors said that on July 28, 2024, Brascom entered a Princeton bank brandishing what appeared to be a black handgun. 

She approached a teller and demanded cash, warning that she would use the weapon if the bank’s alarm system was triggered. After receiving approximately $60,500, Brascom fled the scene.

The charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Brascom is scheduled to be sentenced on October 6, 2025.
