Newark West Ward Shooting Under Investigation

Newark

Police recovered over a half dozen shell casings at the scene of a shooting incident in Newark's West Ward.

It happened around 4:14 a.m. near the intersection of Norwood and Halsted.

Police say a ShotSpotter device detected about eight rounds near 76-78 Halstead, prompting the police investigation.

Upon arrival, officers taped off the area after locating shell casings at that location.

Police searched the area for victims, but authorities reported no injuries as of 4:25 a.m.

The suspect fled the scene and is at large.
