EMS administered CPR to a male who was found suffering gunshot wounds in Newark's West Ward Sunday morning.
The early morning shooting happened around 1:17 a.m. in the vicinity of 79 Stuyvesant Avenue.
Police were dispatched to the address after receiving reports of shots fired.
Upon their arrival, authorities found the unconscious and unresponsive victim, who was rushed to University Hospital, where doctors treated his wounds.
The unidentified victim was listed in life-threatening condition around 1:40 a.m.
The Essex County Prosecutor was notified of the shooting.
There were no other injuries reported.
