EMS transported a male victim to University Hospital early this morning suffering injury from gunfire.
Reports of shots fired erupted in the 50's block of Sunset Avenue shortly before 4 a.m. sending police to the scene where they found a male victim shot at that location.
The victim's injury was not immediately considered life threatening according to reports.
A crime scene that was setup in the area had cops search for evidence and possible suspects.
The shooting is under investigation by Newark Police.
