Newark West Ward Shooting Causes Property Damage

Authorities in Newark are investgiating a shots fired incident that caused property damage in the city's upper West Ward on Wednesday evening.

According to preliminary reports, a ShotSpotter activation alerted police to a shooting in the vicinity of 216 Kerrigan Boulevard just before midnight.

Officers responded to the scene found evidence that a shooting occurred, but as they searched the area, there were not able to find a victim.

Units canvassing the scene located a vehicle damaged after bullets struck the car according to officials.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
