A female victim suffered non-fatal injuries after being struck by gunfire in Newark's Vailsburg section Sunday morning.
It happed around 12:50 a.m. in the vicinity of 76 Brookdale Avenue in Newark's upper West Ward.
According to preliminary reports, police responded to reports of shots fired and they arrived then found the victim suffering a bullet wound.
The unidentified woman was transported to the hospital for treatment and is expected to recover a preliminary investigation reported.
The motive for the shooting has not been released.
