A 17-year-old Esssex County boy is facing charges related to a police chase that started in Mahwah and ended several miles away in Ridgewood.
Bergen County authorities say the Newark teen stole the black Maserati in Franklin Lakes.
Mahwah Police began tracking the stolen car around 6 a.m. Wednesday. According to police the chase started when the teen got to Darlington Avenue and tried to ram into a police cruiser that swerved out of the way.
Police say that the teen then traveled south in Campgaw and tried to escape on Route 17.
The car eventually became disabled due to a mechanical issue on Route 17 in Ridgewood.
Officials said the teen was not named due to his age. He faces several charges, including aggravated assault on a police officer.
