Newark Police are looking for a suspect wanted for a shooting in the city's South Ward that sent a man to the hospital overnight.
Reports of shots fired sent police to the 200 block of Clinton Avenue at around 9 p.m. where officers arrived to find the victim bleeding from the stomach after being struck by a bullet.
Police taped off the scene while EMS prepared the victim for the transported to University Hospitals suffering severe injuries.
Officers canvassing the scene found shell casings as they began to search for a suspect who reportedly fled the scene in a dark-colored vehicle.
The investigation into the shooting remains active.
