Newark Shooting Suspect Sought by Authorities

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose is requesting the public’s help with locating shooting suspect Abdul Chance, 36 of Newark.

Authorities said on June 5, 2016, at approximately 4:00 p.m. a 41-year-old Newark man was shot on the 400 block of North 12th Street.

His injuries were not serious with him being treated and released from Clara Mass Hospital.

Detective Pisano from the Department’s Cease Fire Shooting Response Team worked throughout the night before identifying Chance as the gunman.

After identifying Chance, Detective Pisano was able to secure a $200,000 warrant for his arrest.

Although police are actively searching for Chance, we are asking for the public’s assistance in quickly locating and removing him from our streets where he continues to pose a threat.

This investigation is active and ongoing.

These are accusations against Chance. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they enter a guilty plea or are found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
