An early morning shooting that left one person injured has police in Newark investigating.
Officials at the University Hospital contacted police when the victim was entered the hospital's emergency department suffering a gunshot injury at around 12:15 a.m.
According to officials, the victim was assisted by about three other individuals who were reluctant to cooperate with authorities.
Police were able to locate a crime scene in the area of South Orange Avenue and Bergen Street.
The victim's injuries were not immediately reported as life threatening.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
