"My Motivation to Succeed Comes from the Fact that I Love People", Newark Resident, Rutgers New Jersey Medical School Student Britney Wilson
This is Britney Wilson and she is a 28-year-old Newark native who was actually born at University Hospital. Britney says she spent part of my childhood next door in Hillside.
Through the mentoring and support of the NJ SEEDS program, I was able to attend boarding school, The Cambridge School of Weston, in Massachusetts for high school.
Britney's journey into medicine began with the personal loss of her grandmother due to cancer and father who died of drug abuse.
"These experiences opened my eyes to biomedical research. Through my explorations in biomedical research, I discovered the vibrant wondrous career of a physician" Britney said.
As she fast-forwards six years into her life from high school, Britney is now a second-year student at Rutgers- New Jersey Medical School.
"My ultimate career goal is to become a physician working to address the medical, social, and emotional needs of the medically underserved while also serving as mentor and source of inspiration for next generation of underrepresented youth."
