Newark Public Schools Scholar Athlete Uses Faith, Love of Volleyball for her Commitment to Attend New Jersey City University

RLS Metro Breaking News platform family, we want to introduce to some and present to others Newark Public School's scholar-athlete and NJSIAA volleyball standout Ms. Xarial Chandler.

On Wednesday, May 1st, Chandler made her final decision to keep her volleyball talent in NJ by signing a letter of commitment to The Gothic Knights of New Jersey City University.

The 5’7", 127 lb , 17-year-old University High School Phoenix 'Utility player' since 2017 has also shown excellent player activity in the positions of Outside Hitter and Middle Blocker during her four years on the team.

Chandler has concluded her high school volleyball career for the Phoenix with 153 Service Aces, 188 Service Points, 255 Kills, 94 Assists and 434 Digs according to school officials.

Officials say, Chandler -an active member of The Pentecostal Church of God on 19th Avenue in Newark- was selected for NJSCA All-Star Volleyball, NJSIAA Scholar Athlete in which she will be honored for her talent on May 19 in Edison.

Xarial has also gained up accolades from the Men of Essex Scholar-Athlete in which she will be honored at their event on May 15th.

A University High School senior and recipient for her school's top 10 academic spot, Chandler will begin the Fall 2019 year on the campus of New Jersey City University where she will study Biology to become a Newark Public Schools teacher upon her completion.

Chandler's skill, tenacity, and whit on and off the court will join the young and building volleyball program Lady Gothic Knight of Jersey City University.
