Newark Police Summer Barbecue, Community Engagement at Terrell Homes in Newark's East Ward

Newark

Members of the Newark Fire, Police, Mounted/Motorcycle Units, Crime Stoppers and Community Patrols engaged residents at the Millard E. Terrell Homes on Friday for a barbecue in the city's East Ward.

According to Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose, 3rd Precinct Commander A. Perez and staff hosted its first Summer 2018 Community BBQ at Terrell Homes Friday night.

Residents enjoyed delicious food, music, games as officers spoke to residents on how they could make their community safer.

Children in the community visited with police horses and took pictures on police motorcycles while some even toured the fire department's trucks.

The evening ended with residents being assured that police will continue stepped-up enforcement in the area but need the community's help in reporting criminal activity to police early and often.
