Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., stated that at approximately 1:10 p.m., a male driver parked his 2025 white 4-door Mercedes-Benz GLE at ShopRite, 206 Springfield Avenue.

The victim returned to his car at approximately 2:15 p.m. and observed that his briefcase, containing personal paperwork and business contracts, was missing, according to Newark officials.

The suspect vehicle is a black SUV, possibly a Honda Accord, with tinted windows, Newark officials said. The car was observed entering the ShopRite parking lot at approximately 1:30 p.m.

Newark officials say the driver parked next to the victim’s vehicle and remained there for some 8 minutes before exiting the parking lot.
