Authorities in Newark request the public’s help identifying a male burglary suspect in an incident that occurred on Wednesday, May 14.

Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., stated that at approximately 1:40 a.m., police responded to a residence in the area of Eastern Parkway near Woodbine Avenue on a call of burglary.

The victim observed two individuals wearing ski masks and dressed in all black clothing attempting to steal one of the vehicles from the driveway, Newark Police said.

According to Newark officials, the victim yelled out to the suspects, who fled the scene. While inside the victim’s first vehicle, the suspects found a ring of keys to the second vehicle along with the keys to the residence.

The second vehicle was parked in the same driveway as the first, and the suspects entered that second vehicle, as well. The suspects also attempted to enter the residents with the house keys, Newark authorities say.

Newark officials stated that detectives investigating this incident describe one of the suspects as African-American, wearing a black zip-up hooded sweater bearing a Polo logo, black sweat pants, and black sneakers with white shoe laces.

The victim’s surveillance footage showed that the two suspects had arrived in the area inside a blue SUV that they parked at the intersection, Newark officials say.
