Newark Police Seek Public's Help Locating Shooting Suspect

Authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating Omar Reeds, 18, who is wanted for a double aggravated assault shooting that occurred on November 2nd.

Officials say at approximately 2:30 p.m., police responded to the 100-block of Pennington Street on a call of shots fired.

Responding officers located two male victims suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. Both males were transported to University Hospital for treatment.

Major Crimes Shooting Response Team detectives investigating this incident have developed sufficient evidence to identify Omar Reeds as a suspect in this shooting and have secured a warrant for his arrest on charges of two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Conspiracy.

Police describe Reeds as 6’3” tall and 195 lbs. He has a dark brown complexion, brown eyes and black hair.

While police are actively searching for Reeds, they seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating and removing him from our streets.

This investigation is ongoing.
