Newark Police took a male into custody and charged him with eluding and weapons possession after a pursuit in the city's Central Ward Friday night.
During an investigation, police attempted to stop an unidentified male who they believe had a loaded gun in the area of Brenner and South 10th Street.
When officers attempted to investigate further, the suspect bolted away and led officers on a brief pursuit through the community.
Police say the suspect was ultimately captured and after a search of the area, officers reportedly found the gun on Kent Street.
There were no injuries reported.
