Newark Police Investigating Late-Night Shots Fired Incident on Avon Avenue

Newark police are investigating a late-night shots fired incident that occurred in the city’s South Ward Friday night.

According to a statement released by Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, officers were dispatched at approximately 11:23 p.m. on March 6, to the 300 block of Avon Avenue after receiving reports of gunfire in the area.
 

When officers arrived at the scene, they located a handgun along with ballistic evidence. 

Authorities said that despite the gunfire reports, no victims were found at the location.
 

Police secured the weapon and evidence as part of the ongoing investigation.

 

Officials said the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under active investigation, and no additional information was immediately available.
