An early morning shooting that occurred near a housing complex in Newark sent one person to the hospital and now has police investigating.
Police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the vicinity of Market Street and Littleton Avenue -Georgia King Village- at around 1 a.m. where units arrived at the scene to find a male victim suffering a gunshot wound.
EMS transported the victim the short distance to University Hospital where the extent of his injuries were not immediately reported as life-threatening.
Police set up a crime scene in the area to search for evidence that will support a motive for the shooting.
There were no arrests reported.
