Police in Newark returned to a Newark community, for the second time in a week, after a gunman again fired shots in the area on Thursday night.
According to preliminary reports, police were notified by a ShotSpotter activation of a possible shooting that occurred at approximately 9:10 p.m. on 16th and Fairmount avenues.
When police arrived at the scene, they found evidence that a shooting did happen, but after a search of the area, there were no injured victims immediately found.
Police are investigating whether the latest shooting is connected to a shots fired incident that occurred at the same location on Monday at around noon.
In the Monday shooting incident, a male gunman sprayed the vicinity with bullets then fled the scene.
There were no reports of arrests in either incident.
The motive for the shootings remains under investigation.
