Police in Newark are investigating a shooting that occurred in a neighborhood in the city overnight.
There were no immediate reports of injuries after gunfire erupted at around 9 p.m. on Avon Avenue and South 17th Street sending police to the area where they set up a crime scene and launched an investigation.
A white or light-colored vehicle was observed leaving the scene and heading eastbound on Avon Avenue immediately after shots fired according to reports.
There are no immediate reports of arrests.
