Police searched the area of 15th Avenue and Hunterdon Street for evidence of a shooting that reportedly left a man injured overnight in Newark.
Officials at Beth Israel Hospital contacted police when a male victim entered the hospital's emergency department suffering a gunshot wound.
The victim told police that he was shot at the 15th Avenue location shortly before arriving to the hospital.
It is not clear if police ever found a crime scene.
The victim's injuries were not reported as life threatening.
Police are investigating a motive behind the shooting.
