Police in Newatk arrested a 28-year-old man from Orange, for a self-inflicted gunshot wound last night.
According to police, at approximately 11:15 p.m., officers responded to University Hospital on a call of a person shot.
Police said Davon Johnson had arrived at the hospital for treatment for a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the foot.
During their investigation, detectives determined that Johnson’s injury was self-inflicted authorities said.
The exact location of where the shooting occurred has not determined but police searched the area around West End Avenue for a crime scene.
Johnson was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
This charge is merely an accusation.
The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
