Police in Newark are on the search for a suspect wanted for a late-night shooting that injured a woman in the city's North Ward.
In a preliminary investigation, police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the vicinity of 3rd Avenue and broadway shortly before midnight.
Units arrived at the scene and found a severely injured female suffering bullet wounds at that location.
Police say the victim was rushed to University Hospital for treatment and has been listed in critical condition.
Authorities have not released a motive for the shooting at this time.
No arrests have been reported.
