Police in Newark are investigating a shooting that sent one person to the hospital on Wednesday evening.
According to preliminary reports, officials at University Hospital contacted police when a male victim suffering a gunshot wound entered the emergency room at approximately 8:45 p.m.
Police checked the vicinity of Summer and 3rd avenues for a crime scene after the victim reported being shots in that area shortly before arriving at the hospital according to reports.
The victim's injuries were not reported as life-threatening and the investigation into the motive for the shooting is in its early stages.
No arrests have been made.
