Newark Neighbor Dispute Ends in Gunfire

An ongoing dispute between neighbors in the city's West Ward ended in gunfire that sent two people to the hospital according Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose.

Several rounds of gunfire that rang out in the 300 block of Ellery Avenue sent police to the scene a little after 11:30p.m. where arriving units located one person suffering a gunshot injury to the hand at that location.

The victim was transported to University Hospital where his injuries were not reported to be life threatening.

A short time later, hospital officials at Beth Israel Hospital notified authorities when a male victim arrived at the hospital suffering serious injuries from gunfire according to reports.

The man was treated then transferred to University Hospital where he is suffering critical injuries authorities said.

The incident is under investigation by Newark Police.
