Newark Native Wins Miss New Jersey Pageant

On Saturday, April 8th, at the University Settlement Speyer Hall in NYC., Alicia Blanks competed with other young ladies who were vying for the title of Miss New Jersey United States in the areas of interview, swimsuit, evening gown, and on-stage questions.

According to pageant officials, Alicia will represent New Jersey at the National Miss United States Pageant held on June 30- July 8, 2017, at the Omni Orlando Resort at Champions Gate in Orlando Florida.

Born and raised in Newark, NJ, Alicia attended Saint Lucy’s Grammar School on 7th Avenue then moved on to Saint Vincent’s Academy High School on West Market Street in the city.

She has been a member of Saint Patrick’s Pro-Cathedral Church on Washington Street since birth where Alicia was an Altar server for six years, a Lector for 11 years, and recently became a Eucharistic Minister.

She completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Dance Performance and Education at Georgian Court University and is now the owner of AMB Dance Theater now housed at the Waterfront Community Center in Newark.

Alicia is an advocate for arts education and loves sharing her passion with others.

She teaches jazz, hip-hop, modern, lyrical, contemporary, ballet, West African dance, and musical theater.

Alicia imparts her knowledge and wisdom to youngsters while helping them develop their passion for dance.
