Newark Man Wanted in Triple-Shooting Arrested

Police announced the arrest of a 20-year-old man wanted in connection with a triple shooting that occurred on Saturday, July 8th.

According to police, at approximately 1 a.m., police responded to residence on Duryea Street on a call of shots fired.

Upon arrival, police learned that during a party at a residence, a brawl ensued among several males when at least one person in the group fired a gun striking three of the combatants.

EMS transported the victims to University Hospital for treatment then released them.

According to witnesses, the suspects were last seen running north on Duryea Street towards Orange Street.

Detectives developed sufficient evidence to identify Mr. Samaad A. Allah as a suspect in this shooting and obtained a warrant for his arrest.  

Police took Allah into custody this morning without incident and charged him with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.

Police charged a second suspect, Mr. Raheem Morgan, 20, of Newark, July 25 and said he faces the same charges.  

These charges are merely accusations.

Both suspects is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

This investigation is ongoing as other suspects remain at large.

While police are actively searching for these suspects, they are seeking the public’s assistance in quickly locating and removing them from the streets.
