Newark Man on Stolen Motorcycle Arrested After Dispute in Linden

A dispute at a Buffalo Wild Wings in Linden led to the arrest of a Newark man over the weekend, according to police.

Cops responded to the Buffalo Wild Wings, located at 1701 W. Edgar Road, on a report of a theft of service shortly after midnight.

Upon arrival, officers were told that a man attempted to pay for his tab with a $100 bill which they suspected could have been counterfeit currency.

The man, later identified as Jerome W. Bearfield, 25, of Newark, argued with the employees before telling them he was leaving to go to an ATM machine police said.

Police located Bearfield at the Circle K Convenience store ATM, where he told them his version of the incident.

When Bearfield returned to Buffalo Wild Wings to pay his tab, officers checked his 1997 Yamaha 350 motorcycle, which can back stolen out of New York, according to police.

Bearfield was placed under arrest and charged with possession of stolen property.

He is being held on $20,000 bail.

Officers also discovered that he had a contempt warrant out of Newark for $5,000.

He is scheduled for a court appearance this week.
