Newark Ironbound Boys and Girls Club Host Newark Police in Basketball Contest

Newark

An all-out effort to involve the community in policing had officers engaged in competition at a Boys and Girls Club in the city's East Ward.

According to Newark Police, members of the 3rd Precinct reached out to the Boys and Girls Club and arranged a friendly B-Ball game with local kids, staff and parents of The Ironbound Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club that's located at 11 Providence Street on Friday, November 10th.

Also attending the competition were children who won in the Mister and Miss Ironbound Teen New Jersey contest.

After several attempts to retrieve the final score of the contest, police officials would only say that they won the game, overwhelmingly, but they would not release any other details.

**Newark Police Division officers pictured volunteered their time to participate and include**: Lt. Antonio Cruz, Sgt. David Mos and Officers Joel Ortiz, Saul Alfaro, Chris DeCampos, Ivan Rodriguez and Crystal Reed.

The game was organized by Mrs. Zee Olivera and her staff at the Boy's and Girls Club.
