Police in Newark are investigating a shooting incident that injured a male in the city's South Ward on Monday.
According to police, the early morning shooting happened around 12:55 a.m. near 63 Voorhees Street.
Officers responded to reports of shots fired and when units arrived, they found shell casings and but no victims were located.
Officials said while police investigated at the scene, officials at University Hospital notified them that a victim entered the emergency room suffering a gunshot wound.
Police have not released a motive for the shooting at this time.
The investigation remains active and the shooter is at large.
