Police in Newark are investigating late-night shots fired incident that injured a male in the city's Central Ward Saturday,
It happened around 8:45 p.m. in the vicinity of 417 South 6th Street.
Police say officers responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the area and when they arrived, they found evidence that a shooting occurred, but while searching the area, they only were able to locate a blood trail.
While canvassing the scene, officials at University Hospital notified police that a male victim entered the emergency room suffering gunshot injuries.
Police believe that bullets struck the victim at the South 6t Street location.
The motive for the attack is under investigation.
