Newark Police are on the search for a suspect who shot a man in a neighborhood in the city's South Ward Tuesday evening.
According to preliminary reports, police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the 300 block of Leslie Street at approximately 7:20 p.m.
Officers arrived at the scene found evidence that a shooting occurred, but no victim was located after a search.
A short time later, officials at Beth Israel Hospital alert police that a male gunshot victim entered the emergency department saying that gunmen fired at him on Leslie Street.
