Police in Newark are investigating a shooting that occurred in Newark's South Ward on Friday morning.
According to authorities, police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the vicinity of 182 Hillside Avenue around 9:30 a.m.
Units arrived at the scene found multiple shell casings, but after officers canvassed the scene, no victims were found.
Witnesses told police that a red vehicle sped away from the scene and possibly had the victim inside.
Police say officials at University Hospitals contacted authorities when a red Nissan dropped off a male suffering bullet wounds in the emergency department.
Newark officials believe that the victim suffered his injuries at the Hillside Avenue crime scene.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
