NEWARK COVERED: Recent College Grads, Newark Residents Announce Success in Assisting the Less Fortunate

Newark

The Keep Newark Covered initiative announced success in their late November quest to feed and clothed the less fortunate in Newark.

According to organizers, the initiative was started by two young women from Newark -Ms. Amina Samuel and Ms. Kiara Abreu to keep the homeless fed and those in need of warm garments protected throughout the Winter months.

The November 29th event held on the 2nd floor of the NJCRI building fed over 80 Essex County residents, 25 people received free haircuts, and hundreds of warm garments, blankets, books, and care packages were given out during the first tour of the humanitarian effort.

The event hosted a live DJ and other fun-filled activities for the entire community.

The organizers would like to thank officials at the NJCRI, Project WOW, volunteers, and everyone who donated items to make the event a success.
