Police officials in Newark are investigating the motive behind a shooting that injured a man early in the morning on June 19.
Offcials at Beth Israel Hospital contacted police when a man suffering bullet wounds entered the emergency department around 2:20 a.m.
Police searched several areas in the city's South Ward and found a crime scene in the vicinity of 136 Lyons Avenue, according to authorities.
Police say Beth Israel officials provided treatment then had the victim transported to University Hospital for further medical care.
The motive for the shooting is still under investigation.
