Newark Bank Robbery Suspect Sought

Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a male wanted in connection with a bank robbery that occurred on Feb. 19th.

According to authorities, shortly before 3 p.m., a man entered City National Bank, located at 1080 Bergen Street, and handed a teller a note demanding cash by threatening use of an explosive. Officials say the suspect was last seen fleeing on foot, heading east on Lyons Avenue.

Police described the man as 5’6” to 5’8” tall, thin build, has a mustache and beard. Officials say he was last seen wearing a blue zip-up hooded jacket, blue jeans and black and white sneakers.

While detectives investigating this incident are actively searching for this suspect, they seek the public’s help in quickly locating him and removing him from the streets.
