New Jersey Middle School Teacher Struck by Lightning

Lightning struck a middle school teacher from a Manchester middle school during Wednesday's winter storm.

According to police, the 33-year-old woman was struck by lightning outside of the school building as she was holding an umbrella while working bus duty at the end of the school day at approximately 2:30 p.m.

Police say the Toms River resident was standing on the sidewalk in front of the school with other staff members when the lightning strike occurred.

EMS rushed the teacher to Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune where she suffered non-life threatening injuries police said.
