New Brunswick Man Accused of Killing Ex- Girlfriend Pleads Not Guilty

A 25-year-old New Brunswick man accused of stalking and shooting his ex-girlfriend to death in South Brunswick pleaded not guilty this afternoon.

Giver Vasquez was arrested in New Hope, Pennsylvania, four days after fatally shooting 24-year-old Alicia Martinez.

On June 24, police arrived to the Prologis complex around 7 a.m. where they found Martinez who was inside her vehicle suffering from three gunshot wounds.  According to authorities, Martinez followed her – in a borrowed 2004 silver Volkswagen Passat - into the parking lot, opened fire and fled.

Vasquez who is in the United States illegally has deportation proceedings against him.

He has been charged with murder, stalking, possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of a weapon and remains in custody in lieu of a $2 million bail.
