National Championship Bound for The Newark Brick City Lion Pop Warner Football Team

Newark

A set of shut out wins for the Brick City Lions Pee Wee Football program has advanced the team to the 2015 Pop Warner National Championship round this coming Friday at Disney World down in Orlando Florida.

The Newark team began the week on Saturday after a long travel, to take the field for an early morning contest against the East Vancouver Venom Team of Washington State. The Lions routed the Venom team by a final score of 38-0 after the Lions' defensive stance swarmed Washington States' young quarterback, causing confusion and negative ball advancement for the team.

Brick City took a couple of day off to rest and enjoy the sites and beautiful weather of Disney World before hitting the field on Wednesday for an early morning semi-final contest against Mount Hope Cowboys of Rhode Island.

A ferocious running attack led by several Brick City Lion running backs and dynamic offensive blocking had the New Jersey squad take an early halftime lead of

28-0, sending shockwaves of disbelief to the entire state of Rhode Island.

During the halftime locker room session, coaches reminded the young Lions team to stay focused and not to show happiness with the score until the end of the game.

"Let's continue to play hard so that we can bring this home to Newark" coaches shouted.

The halftime strategy proved successful as the Lions stayed on course to hand the Rhode Island team a blanking 35-0 lost in front of a large Disney World crowd.

The win advanced the Brick City Lions to the Division II Pee Wee Pop Warner Football Championship that will happen on Friday morning at 11 a.m. against a competitive Hoffman Estates Redhawks of Illinois.

It's the best of New Jersey vs the best of Illinois.

Let's bring it home Brick City Lions!!!
