Multiple Victims Shot Overnight in Jersey City Neighborhood

Jersey City

Multiple victims suffered non-fatal injuries after gunmen fired shots in the Greenville section of Jersey City on Saturday night.

According to preliminary reports, police responded to the vicinity of Ocean Avenue and Wegman Parkway after receiving reports of shots fired with several victims struck.

Units arrived at the scene found about three people suffering non-life threatening bullet wounds at that location.

As police canvassed the area, they found multiple shell casings that indicated that there were at least two gunmen firing shots at the victims according to reports.

Police are trying to determine if a person who entered Jersey City Medical Center suffering gunshot injuries occurred at the Ocean Avenue shooting scene, which would make it four victims shot at that scene.

According to police, at approximately 2:40 a.m., police responded to reports of a person shot in the area of Oak and Ocean avenues. When officers arrived, they found an unidentified person suffering a bullet wound in his back.

The victim was transported to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment and remained in serious but stable condition. It is not clear if this victim was shot during the earlier shooting incident that also occurred on Ocean Avenue.

The Jersey City Police will handle the investigation.
