Jersey City Police and Hudson County law enforcement officials are investigating a violent shooting that left multiple people injured early Sunday morning.According to preliminary information, the incident occurred around 1:50 a.m. in the area of 507 Ocean Avenue.
Police responded to reports of shots fired and, upon arrival, found several victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical services were called to the scene, and at least three individuals were transported to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment.
While none of the injuries were immediately reported as life-threatening, authorities have not confirmed the full extent of the victims’ conditions or how many others may have self-transported to nearby hospitals.
As additional officers arrived, crowd control measures were put in place and the area was secured with police tape to preserve evidence.
Detectives canvassing the scene were told a Black male suspect, described as wearing a light-colored shirt and dark shorts, fled the area and is believed to be responsible for the shooting.
He remains at large.
The motive for the shooting is still under investigation. No arrests have been made, and officials are asking anyone with information to contact Jersey City police.
