Authorities in Bergen County are investigating suspicious activity near a secured gas pipeline facility in Carlstadt early Wednesday morning.
According to preliminary reports, Carlstadt police apprehended several individuals who were allegedly accessing a manhole leading to a restricted area associated with the Williams Gas Pipeline.
The incident was reported around 3:27 a.m. Wednesday, November 4.
Numerous local, county and federal law enforcement agencies reportedly responded to the scene to assist with the investigation.
It remains unclear why the individuals were attempting to access the secured area or whether any charges have been filed.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
