A gunshot victim who entered a hospital in Glen Ridge Thursday evening reports the incident occurred in Branch Brook Park.
Just before 10 p.m., officials at Mountainside Hospital notified police when a female gunshot victim entered the emergency room seeking treatment for a gunshot wound.
Local police notified the Essex County Sheriff's Office when the woman reported that the incident occurred in Newark's North Ward.
According to the Essex County Sheriff’s Office, the victim told them that while walking on the Lake Street side of Branch Brook Park, she felt a pain in her leg but didn't hear gunshots.
When she looked down to check, the woman reportedly saw blood running down her leg.
Sheriff's officers searched the park's vicinity in Newark, but there were no evidence found.
The victim's injuries were not reported as life-threatening, and the investigation is active and ongoing.
