Motor Vehicle Accident Kills Cyclist in Prospect Park

Passaic County officials announce that at approximately 12:42 p.m. on Wednesday, July 7, police responded to the area of Brown Avenue and North 9th Street in the Borough of Prospect Park upon a report of a cyclist who had been struck by a motor vehicle.

According to county officials, Yancy Wazirmas, 48, of Prospect Park, was operating a 2005 Toyota Corolla when she struck a cyclist. The cyclist, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

County officials said that Ms. Wazirmas remained on scene, presented a valid driver’s license, and was not suspected to be under the influence.

No charges have been filed at this time, however, the investigation remains active and ongoing. More information will be released once it becomes available.
