Paramus Bergenfield

A 19-year-old’s mother chased and recorded a video that helped police identify and arrest a man accused of groping her daughter at a Paramus Marshall’s store.

According to authorities, Saturday, at approximately 8 p.m., a 19-year-old woman and her mother were in the shoe aisle of a Marshall's in Paramus when a man, later identified as Edward E. Evans, 53, of Bergenfield, allegedly grabbed her buttocks.

Officials say as soon as the victim told her mom, she ran after the suspect while she recorded him with her cellphone.

The video led police to Evans Bergenfield home, where police took him into custody Wednesday.

According to authorities, Evans was charged with criminal sexual contact and was held at the Bergen County Jail pending a court hearing.
