Morris County Prosecutor Announces the Hiring of a New Detective

Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp and Acting Chief of Investigations Christoph Kimker announce the hiring of Ryan Thomas as detective for the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.

Officials say he was assigned to the General Investigations Unit.

Prosecutor Knapp and Chief Kimker administered the oath of office to Det. Thomas.

Thomas began his law enforcement career as a security guard at the Office of Administrative Law Courts, East Orange Unemployment Office and Morris County East Division of Child Protection and Permanency.

He served as a patrol officer with the East Orange Police Department, and a police officer for the patrol and investigations divisions of the Rutgers University Police Department – Newark Campus. Det. Thomas holds a New Jersey Police Training Commission Certification and an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice.

Det. Thomas has also completed several professional law enforcement training courses.

Prosecutor Knapp welcomed Det. Thomas to the department.

Prosecutor Knapp said, “Detective Thomas and his family are Morris County residents with strong ties to the community. He brings a breadth of experience to the MCPO, having served with two other law enforcement agencies.

He is also part of a law enforcement lineage as his father is a retired lieutenant from the Roseland Police Department. We expect that Ryan will contribute significantly to our Office.”
