The Mercer County Narcotics Task Force concluded a two-week investigation last Friday with the seizure of more than $400,000 in opioids, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri reported.
Onofri stated that his office received information in October from U.S. Homeland Security Investigations regarding a package being delivered to a residence on Hauser Avenue in Hamilton from India.
Authorities identified a package en route containing hundreds of oxycodone pills, and federal and state search warrants were obtained.
On November 1, 2019, at approximately 1 p.m., members of the MCNTF initiated surveillance of Amanda Polom and the Hauser Avenue home where she resides.
The package was delivered and after Polom took custody of the narcotics, officers took her into custody and executed search warrants. Detectives located 12,000 tramadol pills, 2,000 tapentadol pills, 530 oxycodone pills, and 20 bags of heroin.
Polom, 35, was charged with four counts of second-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance and three counts of second-degree possession with the intent to distribute. She was released pending future court proceedings.
Onofri stated that the seized pills have an approximate total street value of $436,000. Officers also seized 20 bags of heroin valued at $140.
Officers with the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Homeland Security Investigations, and the Hamilton and Princeton police, under the command of the prosecutor’s Special Investigations Unit, assisted with the investigation.
Despite having been charged, every defendant is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
